Older brickwork
Older walls were built to behave in a particular way, and they carry on doing it only if the repair is matched to them.
What we do
- Repairs and rebuilding on older properties.
- Replacing blown, spalled or cracked bricks with a match for the originals.
- Rebuilding a section of wall that has moved, reusing the original brick.
- Lintels, sills and arches, repaired or replaced to suit the wall.
- Raking out and redoing pointing that was done in the wrong mortar.
Matched, not close enough
The brick, the bond and the detail are matched to what’s already there, so the repair reads as part of the wall. Where a brick can’t be matched from what’s available new, we’ll tell you what the options are and what each one looks like, rather than pick one and hope.
